New bar uptown

The opening of Achies Nightclub in the city centre breathed fire to the ever-changing Harare night life with multitudes of club enthusiasts thronging the joint on the opening day last Friday.
Centrally located along Nelson Mandela Avenue, the club seems to have bridged a gap created by the shutting down of some popular nightspots in central CBD.
The closing down of joints like KFC, Ximex Bar, Bulldogs Pub and Achies’ predecessor Archipelago (and even Sports Diner), left city merrymakers with limited choices for night life space.

Most had found solace in downtown clubs but Achies could reignite merrymaking in the city centre.
A number of deejays took turns to entertain the multitudes that thronged the official opening of the popular entertainment joint that was previously known as Archipelago.

The nightclub, which had been closed for almost a year and going through serious renovations, is now under new management.
Top deejays among them DJ Squilla, Ironic, Judgement Yard, Big Dollar, Ash Styles, Nivek, Mad Fresh, Young Unit, Big Dollar and Punchline Entertainment entertained revellers till dawn at the joint.

They were throwing all sorts of beats to make sure that they entertain everyone.
Team leader of the new management Biggie Chinoperekwei said they were overwhelmed by the turn out.

“We are very impressed by the numbers of revellers that have been flocking in since afternoon and we are going to ensure that we maintain the good standard,” he said.

Chinoperekwei said one of their top priorities is  to revive the former glory of the spot and even surpass it as they have lined up a number of activities to keep old and new patrons entertained.

“We do not want to regain the former glory only but actually to surpass it.
“We are aiming to attract new patrons and also to keep our old ones and we will keep bringing surprises to our clients.

“We have lined up a number of activities and we have managed to bring back afternoon sessions which will be on every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday,” he said.
