Zimbabwe has developed a first of its social media application named ‘Talk Chart’ used for chatting and financing globally as the country begins to reap the benefits from priority innovation implemented through the heritage-based Education 5.0 model.
The application which works more like the Whatsapp application enables one to chat while at the same time having an option to send and receive money globally from the comfort of their home.
Talk Chart, which has since registered over 30 000 subscribers within a month was officially launched last Saturday.
The firm’s director Jonathan Muchengeti said the application is an indigenous one.
“It is our own Zimbabwean application in which apart from chatting, will introduce a financing system whereby one will do transactions using Talk Chart.
“One will be able to pay bills like Zesa and council at any given time,” he said.
Talk Chart marketing executive director Primrose Miga said it was a social media application with a difference.
“His Excellency the President has been speaking so much about innovation, so we decided it was time for us to play our own role.
“We cannot be letting Whatsapp become rich just like Facebook and almost everyone in Zimbabwe uses those platforms so why not have our own,” she said.
Miga said the application will also lead to employment creation through recruiting locals to work in various departments.
“Talk Chart is also going to be a transitive platform. In Zimbabwe there are a lot of financing platforms like Ecocash, One Wallet, but this one is going to make it easier for one to be able to keep money in the phone.
“The difference is that you can still be chatting while transacting. Moreover, we are also building a platform so that payments are not just local, but be international just like Mukuru, World Remit,” she said.
Miga said through the Talk Chart application one is able to pay for goods and services online.
“We have tested the application already internally doing transactions with people in Dubai and it is perfect. We are hoping that within the next few weeks it will be able to start transacting,” she said.A brand ambassador comedienne and socialite Tarisai “Madam Boss” Chikocho said the application was user friendly.
“It is the best application to use as it has an array of options, including doing financial transactions while in the comfort of the home,” she said.
