ZIMBABWE senior men’s cricket team assistant coach Stuart Matsikenyeri wants local cricketers to take their good domestic form to the international stage when the country begins its international schedule later this year.

This follows the conclusion of the 2023-2024 Logan Cup season, which saw Matsikenyeri’s Mountaineers crowned champions.

The season saw several batting records being broken.

A total of 36 centuries, four double centuries and a triple century were scored during the 2023/2024 Logan Cup season.

There were also 66 half-centuries and nine individual scores between 150 and 199 runs.

“It has been good to see batters spend time at the crease and score big,” said Matsikenyeri.

“It is encouraging and hopefully we can see guys bringing these sorts of performances to international cricket.”

Tuskers’ Brian Chari was the highest run scorer with 692 runs in 14 innings, scoring two centuries and four half-centuries in the process.

Not far behind was Southern Rocks’ Jonathan Campbell with 675 runs from 15 innings, while Ali Akbar Hamid (Tuskers) was third with 674 runs in 15 innings.

Tadiwanashe Marumani (Eagles) was the fourth highest scorer with 630 runs from 11 innings.

Tuskers’ Nkosana Mpofu concludes the top five list with 623 runs in 15 innings.

Rhinos’ Antum Naqvi posted the highest individual score of 300, which he made against Tuskers on January 10.
