NEW: China, UAE dominate new investments into Zim

CHINA and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) dominate new investments into Zimbabwe during the three-month period to September, data from the Zimbabwe Investment and Development Agency (ZIDA) show.

During the nine months to September 2023, new investments into Zimbabwe from China had a projected investment value of US$2,79 billion, while new investments from the UAE had a value of US$498 million.

Mauritius, Zimbabwe and India make up the rest of top five sources of new investments.

Reads part of ZIDA’s 2023 third-quarter report: “During the year to September 2023, the agency managed to draw investors from 38 countries, whilst in 2022 investors were drawn from 27 countries.

“During both periods, investors from China were the most by number and investment value, with mining being their most preferred sector followed by the manufacturing sector.”
