NEW: Cigarette manufacturing company to extend agric-tech to 4 000 farmers

ABOUT 4 000 tobacco farmers across the country are set to benefit from modern farming techniques as cigarette manufacturing company Swan Valley International seeks to bolster home-grown agricultural solutions.

The company’s director, Mr Mutemwa Ushewokunze, said the initiative is also designed to promote value addition and beneficiation.

“We have 4 000 farmers out there who are growing tobacco. We are going to take it and turn it into finished products, add value and then sell.

“We will also hold field days to showcase agronomy techniques.”

Swan Valley is set to launch products on Saturday in Mbare, Harare, where various activities have been lined up, including a match pitting Dynamos FC and CAPS United FC soccer legends.

Musicians Alick Macheso and Winky D are also set to take to the stage during the launch.
