Several activities took place at Kuwadzana 1 shops on Saturday as new venue Honolulu Sports Bar was officially opened.

In the afternoon there was a road show that saw a ball juggler displaying several football skills much to the delight of the gathered crowd.

As if the juggler’s skills were not enough, fans got entertainment from musician Jean Masters who kept them dancing until the wee hours of Sunday morning.

The musician put up a sterling performance and she did renditions of songs of several musicians such as James Chimombe, Alick Macheso and Marshal Munhumumwe.

She said she was happy to be performing at the official opening of the sports bar.

“This is encouraging and as you can see that the place is well designed it gives artistes energy and free space to show what we have to the patrons,” she said.

Venue owner Leggie Chimusasa said they wanted to bring a new dimension to the community of Kuwadzana.

“I have realised that there was a lot of activities in Kuwadzana 2 and people would go there but as a former resident of this place I decided to give back to this community,” he said.

He said they would bring high profile jazz artistes to perform at the venue that has an uptown setup.

“There are a lot of shows we have lined up and as you can see that the set up of the bar is not for big shows but to entertain our patrons we will be bringing big artistes,” he said.

The Bar has an uptown setup with a braai place at the back.

He said they would be engaging in different social activities that will see patrons enjoying.

“We have already set a social soccer club and there are several activities we are setting so that our patrons enjoy them,” he said.

He said they were working to give their best to the people in Kuwadzana.
