The Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) has handed over a two-classroom block to Jondale Primary School in Mhondoro-Ngezi after one of its sub-standard structures that were built in the early 2000s gave in.
Personnel from the 5 Infantry Brigade in partnership with Mhondoro-Ngezi Rural District Council and the community worked on the project.
Chief of Staff Quarter Master Staff, Major General Hlanganani Dube was guest of honour at the hand-over ceremony and said the ZDF is rallying behind President Mnangagwa’s call for Zimbabweans to build the nation.
“The Zimbabwe Defence Forces is working towards bringing development to all communities across the country,” he said.
Major General Dube said the ZDF, through its community assistance programme, supports the provision of a conducive learning environment for children.
Last week, the ZDF handed over another classroom block it constructed in the same area.
Community members applauded the ZDF for the job well done.
“I am happy because my grandchildren will now be attending lessons in a conducive and safe learning structure,” said one parent.
Commander 5 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier General Mpuleang Siziba, Mhondoro-Ngezi RDC chairman Alderman Ephraim Chengeta, councillors, traditional leaders and members of the community attended the event.
Mhondoro-Ngezi RDC chief executive officer, Dr Itai Mawonde and local legislator, Cde Tavengwa Mukuhlani commended the ZDF for the assistance.
