NEW: Democracy thrives when every voice is heard – President

EXTENDING the voting period reflects Zimbabwe’s commitment to inclusivity and the strength of its democratic ideals, President Mnangagwa has said.

In a post on microblogging site X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, the President, who used his powers to extend voting in areas affected by delays in delivery of voting materials, said democracy thrives “when every voice is heard”.

“Voting has been extended,” he said.

“Democracy thrives when every voice is heard. Extending the voting period reflects our commitment to inclusivity and the strength of our democratic ideals. Let us embrace this opportunity to shape our nation’s future together.”
