DIANA “Mangwenya” Samkange, who is basking in glory following her sterling performance at the recently held “Bira reMbira” festival, will entertain traditional healers in the capital on Saturday.
Traditional healers, midwives, herbalists and faith healers who are under the auspices of the Zimbabwe National Practitioners Association (ZINPA) are set to converge in the capital for their annual general meeting.
Samkange will share the stage with Allan Chimbetu and the Duramazwi Mbira Ensemble.
The mbira songstress said she is looking forward to performing before an audience that appreciates her music.
“It is always nice to perform for people you share a lot in common with. As a traditionalist, I will be performing for an audience which truly appreciates my music,” she said.
“This show is also a perfect platform to grow my fan base.”
ZINPA president Bishop Cuthbert Nyaruvenda said the purpose of the meeting is to take stock of the association’s activities.
“We are going to discuss what we achieved and also failed to achieve this year. We are also going craft the way forward as a new year beckons,” Bishop Nyaruvenda said.
Officials from the Ministry of Health and Child Care and the Traditional Medical Practitioners Association are set to grace the event.
Prominent radio personalities Ndundu Chikara and Phillip “Blah Phidza” Makazhu will be masters of ceremonies.
