ALTHOUGH the major highlight from the match was the hat-trick by Brazilian Lucas Ribeiro, there was a Zimbabwean touch to Mamelodi Sundowns’ 3-0 victory over Amazulu on Tuesday night.

Warriors player Divine Lunga played the whole match for Masandawana, who stretched their unbeaten run in the South African Premiership to 40 matches.

Mamelodi Sundowns are now on course for a record-extending seventh straight league championship, with 42 points from 16 matches.

Cape Town City and SuperSport United, who are joint second on the log, have 30 points each.

But, for Zimbabwean football fans, it was good to see Lunga feature in a star-studded Mamelodi Sundowns side that paraded three players who helped South Africa finish third at the recent African Cup of Nations finals.

Goalkeeper Ronwen Williams, Grant Kekana and Teboho Mokoena lined up alongside Lunga in Tuesday night’s victory for Sundowns.
