A 37-year-old Bulawayo man has reportedly disappeared with a truck and two trailers worth US$62 997 belonging to a foreign national, prompting a police investigation.
Moffat Murove of Matopos allegedly disappeared with an Argosy Freightliner truck bearing South African registration number JFC 063FS and two trailers belonging to Oupa Mazibuko, 52, of Blachflash Carries Private Limited.
The first trailer bears registration number JGH 984FS and chassis number VIN-AG9A226ABPBAG1064, while the second bears registration number JGH 981FS and chassis number VIN-AG9A223ABPBAG1063.
Murove is now facing a theft of trust property charge.
The matter was reported at Marimba Police Station under CR16/09/26.
Circumstances are that on August 8, 2026, Murove was given the truck at Boss Export in Johannesburg, South Africa, and instructed to travel to Zimbabwe to deliver a consignment in Mabelreign, Harare.
The vehicle was being monitored through a GPS tracking system from South Africa.
Murove drove to Harare and made the delivery on August 19, 2026, before parking the truck at Aspindale Truckstop.
He is suspected of tampering with the vehicle’s tracking system while at the truckstop, after which the vehicle was no longer visible online.
He allegedly drove off to an unknown destination and has not returned to Johannesburg, South Africa, with the truck and two trailers to date.
On September 10, 2026, at around 2.30pm, police officers visited Aspindale Truckstop, where the tracking system had been deactivated. The truck and trailers were nowhere to be found.
Police have no leads on Murove’s whereabouts, while his known mobile phone number is no longer reachable.
