NEW: Early Christmas treat for Chiweshe vulnerable children

Online Reporter
VULNERABLE children in Chiweshe received an early Christmas treat from Mr Martin Chareka through his Maidhona Foundation Trust at Nzvimbo Growth Point on Sunday.
The children received clothes and food hampers.
Mr Chareka said he felt the need to celebrate the Christmas holiday with the vulnerable as a way of giving back to the community he grew up in.
“As an organisation that helps vulnerable children in areas around Chiweshe rural communities and Mvurwi farming areas, we saw it fit to celebrate the festive season with them.
“We do understand that the kids, just like others, need to celebrate Christmas, hence we organised a function where we gave them clothes and celebrated an early Christmas with festivities,” said Mr Chareka.
The Maidhona Foundation Trust was founded in 2015. Mr Chareka revealed how the foundation was formed.
“I had a dream in which I was asked to start a foundation to help young, vulnerable children regardless of gender. The name of the organisation, Maidhona, was given to me in that dream.
“In 2015 I began establishing the foundation, facing some challenges but in 2017 Maidhona Foundation Trust was registered and commenced helping children,” said Chareka.
The Trust has helped a number of children in different ways like paying for children’s school fees in Chiweshe.
“As Maidhona Foundation Trust we have paid fees for children in schools around Chiweshe. while the number of children who have benefitted from this initiative is not substantial, the Trust has faith that the number will grow exponentially over time.
“In addition to paying fees for the vulnerable children Maidhona Foundation Trust has bought school uniforms for some children.
“In 2018 and 2019, the Trust bought uniforms for the children as well as donated stationery to children in Mvurwi farming areas. The donation also included soccer, netball and volleyballs which the schools used during the sporting season of 2019,” added Mr Chareka.
