MORE than 220 golfers, including 20 promising junior players, took to the fairways at Royal Harare Golf Club on Friday for the annual Econet Corporate Golf Day, bringing together clients, business partners and other stakeholders for a day of competitive golf and networking.
The event provided participants with an opportunity to step away from the boardroom and enjoy a day of sport and relationship-building, while competing for honours across individual, pairs and special-hole categories.
The inclusion of junior golfers also gave young players an opportunity to experience the game in a competitive but supportive environment alongside established golfers at one of Econet’s key annual client engagement events.
The day produced a strong display of golfing talent, with Blessing Ndlovu emerging as the overall individual winner after an impressive round that earned him 47 points.
His performance was rewarded with a 6kWh all-in-one energy storage system and a Samsung S26 Ultra smartphone.
In the fiercely contested pairs category, Godfrey Nelson Madanyaya and Ronald Nyawera delivered the standout performance of the tournament, combining for 78 points to claim first prize.
The winning pair each received a Lenovo X1 Yoga laptop, Samsung S26 Ultra smartphone and 60 litres of fuel.
Fainah Bungare and Shengwetang Yang finished second with 75 points, while Evermay Chenai Chironga and Robert Chikombora secured third place on 73 points.
Rounding out the top five were Phillipah Moyo and Tuzumine Munga in fourth place, followed by Charles Makombe and Che Zhenyu, who completed the leading group.
Both pairs posted 68 points.
Beyond the main competition, golfers also battled for honours on selected holes, adding another layer of excitement to the tournament.
Cardline Mbofana and Blessing Tembo claimed the Longest Drive Amateur Lady awards, while Blessed Chimbsha and Alex Masere took the Longest Drive Amateur Man honours. Each of the four winners received 60 litres of fuel.
The Nearest-to-the-Pin contests were won by Simba Mazonde, Jane Salimo, Ezra Van Rooyen and Asker Pengapenga, with each winner receiving a ZTE Blade A35E smartphone.
