Electric vehicles (EVs) company Agilitee Africa, which has expressed interest to set up shop in Zimbabwe, entered the East African market this week.

Founded in South Africa, the firm seeks to make the continent a forerunner in the development of EVs in line with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals of promoting green energy.

In a notice published this week, Agilitee Africa said it has been granted a certificate to operate in Kenya, which will be the company’s headquarters for the East African market.

It has already set up base in West Africa and established its headquarters in Nigeria.

In Zimbabwe, it has since appointed EV expert Mr Tanaka Kutama as its chief operating officer.

Assembly plants to manufacture cars, electric motorcycles and scooters are planned in Harare and Bulawayo.
