Treasury will pay $350 million to Zimbabwe National Water Authority (ZINWA) as part payment for monies owed by Government departments and institutions to the water authority.

Government departments and institutions owe ZINWA over $1 billion.

In a statement, Minister of Lands, Agriculture, fisheries, water and rural resettlement Dr Anxious Masuka said ZINWA has restored water supply to all institutions disconnected last week.

“Water supply has been restored to all the institutions that were disconnected during the past week after payment and/or submission of credible payment plans,” part of the statement reads.

“All Government institutions and Departments have been reconnected against a commitment, from the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development, to pay a total of ZW$350 million immediately.”

Last week ZINWA embarked on a massive water disconnection exercise with the aim of recovering over $2 billion it is owed by its clients.
