NEW: Govt capacitates GBV survivors

AT LEAST 35 women in Chipinge district have been capacitated through business training, a Government Minister has said. 

Addressing Tuesday’s post-Cabinet briefing, Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Monica Mutsvangwa said:

“35 of the targeted 43 Women Gender-Based Violence Survivors from Chipinge, Manicaland Province were trained in business management, issued with start-up kits (solar driers) and linked to markets. 

“20 out of the targeted 30 women’s groups were funded by the Women Empowerment Fund in Mashonaland West and Midlands.” 

Minister Mutsvangwa said product certification by the Standards Association of Zimbabwe (SAZ) for 30 community groups has reached 60 percent of completion, with standards and certification awareness campaigns and training having been conducted in various provinces. 

These provinces include: Manicaland, Midlands, Masvingo, Matabeleland North, Matabeleland South, Mashonaland West and Mashonaland East provinces. 

She also said phase two of the construction of the Guruve Women Gold Milling Centre in Mashonaland Central Province is now 95 percent complete.
