NEW: Govt prioritising critical infrastructure

Online Reporter

Government is committed to modernising critical infrastructure to spur development in line with the National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1), Transport and Infrastructural Development Minister Felix Mhona has said.

He said this while commissioning the US$3 million Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport baggage handling system on Wednesday.

“This is, indeed, a timely project under the Government’s thrust of improving facilitation service provision at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport.

“Government’s main objectives, under NDS1 with respect to aviation, include having a safe, efficient and reliable world-class air transport infrastructure and services,” he said.

He said the Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe was undertaking three additional projects, which are at various stages of completion, including rehabilitation of the Air Traffic Control Communications Systems, the Navigational Aids Systems and the Secondary Surveillance Radar Systems.
