ZIMBABWE’s grain and oilseed deliveries have recorded a major increase this year, with national deliveries reaching 882 230 tonnes by October 2, 2025, representing a 387 percent jump compared to the same period last year.
This was revealed in today’s post-Cabinet media briefing.
The figure includes deliveries of maize, soyabeans, sorghum, wheat and sunflower, underscoring a significant rebound in national crop output.
The Grain Marketing Board also reported a substantial rise in its own intake, which is now 148,16 percent higher than last year’s figure.
Government attributed the surge to improved agricultural productivity, enhanced farmer support under Presidential input schemes and favourable weather conditions across most parts of the country.
The increase in grain and oilseed intake is expected to strengthen national food reserves, boost agro-based industries and reduce reliance on imports.
