The Hauna Fun Run is set to bring together fitness enthusiasts, athletes and music lovers from across the country for a fun-filled day of running, walking and celebration in Honde Valley on April 19.
The event, which includes a 60km and 10km run and a fun walk, aims to promote fitness, networking and community engagement.
Participants will have the opportunity to train on a terrain similar to the one they will encounter at the 87km Comrades Marathon in South Africa.
“We want to get everyone involved, hence we also have the fun walk for those who can’t run,” said Alois Bunjira, the event organiser.
“We are offering those preparing for the Comrades Marathon a platform to train and prepare for the big event.”
The event will feature waterpoints and other amenities to facilitate a smooth and enjoyable experience for participants.
A braai and music show will follow the run, where only Zimbabwean music will be played.
“We chose to go with local music as it will be a day after the independence celebrations. We feel the need to uplift our own artists and embrace who we are as a people. We feel it will be the best platform and opportunity to embrace that,” he said.
Bunjira hailed the event for giving the local community the opportunity to come together.
“The event is an excellent opportunity for people to come together, promote fitness and celebrate Zimbabwean culture. We encourage everyone to participate and make the most of this fun-filled day,” he said.
