NEW: Hero’s welcome for Mambo Dhuterere

MULTITUDES of St John Apostolic Church of the Whole World, an apostolic church with headquarters in Mhondoro, are expected to throng the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport on Thursday to welcome popular gospel musician Mambo Dhuterere.
The revered singer, who is the church’s brand ambassador, is returning from the United Kingdom where he performed.
“The leadership of the church is inviting members in and around Harare to a surprise welcome reception for Mambo Dhuterere at the RGM International Airport Arrival Terminal tomorrow, April 21, 2022 at 10.30am,” reads part of a message sent by the church leaders.
“Those going for the welcome are expected to be wearing their complete church regalia as we welcome our brand ambassador. We are all encouraged to go out in our numbers to support our bishop’s vision and make this reception a success.”
Led by Dr Sydney Mabhiza, the church boasts thousands of congregants and has branches in Zimbabwe, South Africa and Botswana, among other countries.
The church is also embarking on an ambitious project to ostensibly build a replica of the biblical city of Jerusalem in Mhondoro.
Dubbed “St John’s City”, the building is being built with stones in the same way Great Zimbabwe was built.
