THE Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has deployed Justice Neville Wamambo to the Masvingo High Court as it moves to improve on service delivery in the province.

Justice Wamambo was moved from Harare at the beginning of the month and joined two other judges — Justices Joseph Mafusire and Garainesu Mawadze.

JSC secretary Mr Walter Chikwana confirmed the deployment yesterday.

He, however, referred all questions to Chief Justice Luke Malaba.

“I can safely confirm on behalf of JSC that we have done logistical arrangements for the transfer of Justice Wamambo to Masvingo province.

“He has been moved to the new station from May this year. However, the Chief Justice is better positioned to give details on the nature of transfer,” said Mr Chikwana.

Chief Justice Malaba could not be reached for comment by end of day yesterday.

Justice Wamambo was appointed High Court judge by President Mnangagwa in December 2017, after having gone through mandatory JSC interviews.

He is a proficient law expert who has worked in the Ministry of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs and sat on several legal boards over the years.

In 2004, he was employed by Government as legal advisor for the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

The legal fraternity in Masvingo has since applauded the posting of Justice Wamambo to Masvingo, considering his vast experience in the legal field.

Though it couldn’t be immediately verified there are reports within legal circles that one of the three judges in Masvingo could be moved to the Commercial Court.

The new court opened its doors recently in Harare.

It is understood that the JSC is in the process of decentralising courts to ensure equal access to justice delivery by all citizens.

Masvingo was the third city to house the High Court in the country, after Harare and Bulawayo.
