UPCOMING boxer Nyasha Hwata intends to launch a successful boxing career after turning professional a few months ago.
He fights Terrence Muronda in only his second professional bout at the Rise of Champions II Tournament, which is slated for Borrowdale Race Course on Sunday.
“It is always refreshing to start your professional career with a win, as it gives you confidence. I am happy that I managed to win my debut fight in July.
“Now, I am looking forward to continuing on the same path,” he said.
The 23-year-old beat John Andrew in the first match of the trilogy series of Manyuchi Boxing Farewell tournaments in Chivhu at the end of July.
The Rise of Champions II Tournament will feature 13 bouts, and Hwata is expected to fight six rounds in the light welterweight category.
“I have done my preparations and I am ready for my second professional fight. I am confident of winning,” he said.
“What gives me confidence going into this match is that Andrew, who I defeated on my debut, had defeated Muronda.
“I am looking forward to the fight as I embark on a successful professional career.”
Hwata is under the Sugarcane Boys Stable.
He is coached by Freeman Mabvongwe, who believes that they have done everything in their power to prepare for the fight.
“We have been putting some final touches during the last couple of days … I am happy with our preparations.
“I am confident that Nyasha will come out victorious,” he said.
Hwata hopes local fights will lead to more exposure and turn him into a household name.
