The modernisation and industrialisation agenda being pursued by the Government requires a commitment to research and innovation as a tool to improve the economy and the lives of ordinary persons, President Mnangagwa has said.
The Head of State and Government said this today while delivering a keynote address at the 13th Zimbabwe International Research Symposium where he was the guest of honour.
“The theme of this year’s symposium, ‘Embracing Research and Innovation for Sustainable Industrialisation’ is timely as the world contends with the challenge of advancing industrial growth while safeguarding our precious scarce resources and the environment,” said President Mnangagwa.
“Therefore, charting the course towards sustainable industrialisation undoubtedly requires a steadfast commitment to research, innovation and the application of cutting-edge technologies.
“We have to interrogate the sustainability of our manufacturing processes, energy sources, utilisation of resources, and waste management practices.”
The symposium seeks to promote research and innovation and boost greater collaboration. Both local and international researchers are in attendance.
