TRADITIONAL leaders in Mashonaland Central Province have urged locals to observe and maintain cultural values.

The calls were made by Chief Chiswiti (Shorty Kanzou) and Chief Madziwa (John Chiruka) during a traditional cleansing ceremony held at Chihuri Village in Shamva recently.

During the ceremony, which was attended by multitudes, spirit mediums officially handed over a traditional sceptre (tsvimbo) – traditionally used for cleansing and rain-making ceremonies –  to Mr Bonservia Gumira for safe-keeping.

“As a nation, we are bound to observe and maintain our core cultural and religious values. The official hand-over of this sceptre is an age-old tradition, which we cannot afford to ignore,” Chief Chiswiti said.
