NEW: Mangombe, Mafu to assist new Warriors coach, Brito

NEWLY appointed national men’s soccer team coach Baltemar Brito will take charge of the Warriors in a friendly match against Botswana next weekend.

Brito will double up as both Highlanders and Warriors coach.

He will be assisted by Dynamos FC coach Genesis Mangombe and former Bosso gaffer Bongani Mafu.

Their immediate task is against The Zebras of Botswana in a match organised as part of celebrating Botswana’s Independence celebrations on September 30.

Brito will also oversee Zimbabwe’s opening matches in 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

The Normalisation Committee has revealed that Brito and his assistants will be in charge of the Warriors until June 2024.

The Normalisation Committee’s mandate ends on June 20, 2024 when a fresh election to install a new ZIFA board will be held.
