RORY MCILROY’S divorce drama will feature in the upcoming season of Full Swing.
The Netflix docu-series is set to return for its third instalment.
A trailer for the latest season has been released by the streaming platform.
It includes footage from around the time that it was announced McIlroy would be splitting from wife Erica Stoll.
The Northern Irishman, 35, filed for divorce last May after seven years of marriage. Incredibly the couple performed a U-turn just a month later, with the divorce voluntarily dismissed.
At the time McIlroy, who has a four-year-old daughter named Poppy with wife Erica, told The Guardian: “There have been rumours about my personal life recently, which is unfortunate. Responding to each rumour is a fool’s game.
“Over the past weeks, Erica and I have realised that our best future was as a family together.
“Thankfully, we have resolved our differences and look forward to a new beginning.”
In the trailer for the latest season of Full Swing, news of McIlroy’s divorce can be seen being received by those present in the Valhalla Golf Club’s media centre and clubhouse ahead of the PGA Championship.
In a piece to camera, McIlroy then admits: “I’ve struggled with trying to be the best golfer, the best husband, the best dad.”
Days after McIlroy’s divorce U-turn was confirmed, he competed at the US Open.
He looked set to win the tournament, thus ending his 10-year Major drought.
But an agonising late collapse saw Bryson DeChambeau pip him.
The trailer features DeChambeau’s celebrations, suggesting that McIlroy’s collapse will be included.
The third season of Full Swing is set to debut on February 25. — Sun.
