Pius Jamba dragged Moreblessing Ali from Chibhanguza Shopping Centre, killed her and hid the body in a bush before he went to his parents’ homestead to collect a kitchen knife and sack, police have said.
The suspect went back to the bush and cut off the deceased body and later dumped it in a nearby well.
Police said they have not found any political link to the heinous crime and are now investigating if Jamba acted alone or in connivance with other suspects.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms that Pius Jamba was arrested in Chidamoyo area, Magunje, on June 16, 2022 in connection with the callous murder of Moreblessing Ali in Nyatsime area, Chitungwiza, on May 24, 2022,” said police in a statement.
“Initial investigations have established that Pius Jamba killed Moreblessing Ali after dragging her from Chibhanguza Shopping Centre, hid the body in a bush and went to his parents’ homestead. He took a kitchen knife and a sack and went back to the bush. “The suspect then cut the body of Moreblessing Ali into pieces and made several trips to the well where he eventually dumped the body.”
Jamba will appear in court soon.
