NATIONAL HERO Brigadier-General (Retired) Dr Michael Chaminuka, who died in Harare on July 13, was buried Monday morning at the National Heroes Acre at an event presided over by President Mnangagwa.

The Head of State and Government also conveyed his condolences to the Mutanda family following the death of Brigadier-General (Retired) Lameck Mutanda, who was buried in the United Kingdom.
Brig-Gen Mutanda was also declared a national hero.
In his eulogy at the burial of Brig-Gen Chaminuka, President Mnangagwa described him as a military intelligence guru and a liberation war stalwart.

Brig-Gen Chaminuka, he added, sacrificed his life for the liberation of the country and deserved national hero status.
“His passing on is yet another huge blow as the nation has lost a loyal, versatile and astute officer, who sacrificed his life to wholeheartedly serve Zimbabwe,” said President Mnangagwa.

“His humble disposition, dedication and commitment to duty, as well as unwavering consistency and persistence in service to our beloved motherland Zimbabwe, earned this award of national hero so that he rests among other great patriots.”
