NEW: New dawn for Masvingo justice delivery system as all 10 courts are digitisalised

Masvingo Bureau

MASVINGO province on Wednesday marked a new milestone in its justice delivery system with the roll-out of digitalisation at all 10 courts in the province under the Integrated Electronic Case Management System(IECMS).

Judicial Service Commission Secretary Mr Walter Chikwanha and his team were at the Masvingo provincial court to oversee the historic milestone in the country’s justice delivery system.

The new development means cases across all levels from the High Court to the lower courts in the province will be expeditiously dealt with, with records being secure and easily accessible.

Mr Chikwanha hailed the smooth roll-out of the programme, which he says will bring justice closer to the people while making courts more accessible.

He announced that to enhance the new system, internet hubs had been set up at Masvingo and Chiredzi courts.

Plans are also underway to install solar power at all the digitalised courts to make sure operations are not affected by power cuts.

“In the shortest possible time, we are going to install solar power at all our courts so that in the event of power cuts, our public will still be accessing services,” he said.

“We have backup generators at all our courts, but we are saying in the event they also fail, we will turn to solar systems.”

Mr Chikwanha said awareness campaigns will continue at various levels of society for the public to fully comprehend and appreciate the efficacy of IECMS in justice delivery.

In Masvingo, every last Friday of the month will see a team led by the provincial magistrate carrying out an outreach in various districts in Masvingo province to raise awareness about the

IECMS.
