Zimbabwe Chevrons named a new look squad for a three-match ODI series against Ireland which begins on Wednesday.

The new squad has seven new players who were not part of the Chevrons side that participated and failed to qualify for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2023 in June-July, the last time Zimbabwe played in a 50-over format.

With Chevrons coach, Dave Houghton already looking ahead to 2027 when Zimbabwe will co-host the 50 over match World Cup together with Namibia and South Africa the new look side is a glimpse of what could be the future Chevrons.

The new faces announced in the new look squad include Takudzwanashe Kaitano, Tinashe Kamunhukamwe, Tanaka Chivanga, Faraz Akram, Brandon Mavuta, Milton Shumba and Tony Munyonga.

Having lost the T20I series 1-2 against Ireland, Zimbabwe will look to clinch the ODI series which begins on Wednesday.

In the absence of Ervine, Raza will lead the team and he will be counting on the experience of Richard Ngarava, Blessing Muzarabani, Wellington Masakadza and Ryan Burl to give Zimbabwe the edge in the series against Ireland.
