NEW: NMB secures US$25 million for economic development

The NMB Bank Zimbabwe Limited has secured a US$25 million facility from Proparco to support Zimbabwe’s economic development, benefiting exporters, importers, the agricultural sector, small and medium enterprises and women entrepreneurs.

Speaking during the signing ceremony in Harare today, Regional Director for Southern Africa at Proparco, Mr Steven Gardon commented the bank for strengthening the economic role of women in Zimbabwe.

“We are very pleased to be working once again with NMB, a Proparco client since 2014, in supporting a range of high-impact sectors and segments in Zimbabwe.

“This financing aligns with our strategic priority of investing in a sustainable and resilient economy.

“We are very proud of NMB’s focus on strengthening the economic role of women,” he said.

NMB Bank Zimbabwe chief executive officer, Mr Gerald Gore, said the facility will help companies and businesses in the country.

“The facility provides much-needed support to our exporting entities to retool and for working capital support to compete effectively in the global arena.

“The lines come at a time NMB Bank has been working on growing its agribusiness sector and specific focus to support women-run business, youth and businesses that enhance social services,” he said.
