VETERAN sungura singer Paradzai Mesi is set to perform in Mozambique on Saturday.

Affectionately known as Papa Para, the musician last performed in the neighbouring country in 2013.

However, he will end the hiatus on August 5 after being shortlisted for a top gig.

“I am super-excited to visit Mozambique after 10 years.

“This is one of the first gigs that I will be having outside the country.

“I am happy my career has taken a new dimension,” Mesi told The Sunday Mail Online.

There has been renewed interest in the composer and singer’s brand from both promoters and fans following his highly publicised Glendale scandal, in which he was arrested for allegedly stealing groceries.

The charges were later dropped.

“Everything is well. We have been doing gigs every weekend, and we are optimistic about the future,” he said.

The Njerama Boys frontman thanked promoters and fans for the love and support.
