NEW: Police arrest Mutare land barons

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) announced that five land barons were arrested in Mutare.

ZRP national spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the police had recently intensified operations against the illegal allocation of housing stands by land barons in several parts of the country.

“The following suspects have since been arrested in Mutare;  Binali Yard , Webster Mudzimwa, Tawanda Ndawe , Trust Matima and Brian Marange, “ he said.

Assistant Commissioner Nyathi urged members of the public to come forward and report illegal acts by land barons to enable the law to take its course.
