NEW: Police confirm arrest of 28-year-old man over Warren Park murder

THE Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed the arrest of a 28-year-old man in connection with a murder case in Warren Park D, Harare.

In a press statement on Thursday, the ZRP said it had arrested Shepherd Severa (28) in connection with the murder of Brian Nandana.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms the arrest of Shepherd Severa (28) in connection with a case of murder which occurred in Warren Park D, Harare, in which Brian Nandana was killed,” reads the statement.

According to the police, the arrest followed the recovery of a blood-stained Toyota Aqua vehicle, registration number AGO 2804, at Warren Hills Cemetery, Harare, on Tuesday around 4 am.

The statement said subsequent police investigations led to the arrest of the suspect, who “allegedly confessed to killing his friend, Brian Nandana, by cutting his throat with a kitchen knife before sucking his blood”.

It added: “The suspect led the police to a shallow grave at Warren Hills Cemetery, where the victim’s body was retrieved with a deep cut on the neck and a scar on the back of the head.”

Investigations into the full circumstances surrounding the murder case are in progress.
