POLICE did not cause the fatal road accident involving an Isuzu D-Max vehicle and Toyota Hiace kombi along Tongogara Avenue, near the intersection of Blakiston Street, which resulted in the death of the kombi driver, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi has said.
A review of video footage from the scene and the camcorder of the deployed team, Comm Nyathi added, indicated that “no speed chase or clashes occurred between the kombi crew and the ZRP members who were driving a police motorcycle”.
“The ZRP sets the record straight on a fatal road traffic accident involving an Isuzu D-Max vehicle and Toyota Hiace kombi, where the kombi driver sadly died after the two vehicles’ collision along Tongogara Avenue, near the intersection of Blakiston Street, Harare on October 3, 2025,” Comm Nyathi said in a statement.
” For the record, no speed chase or clashes occurred between the kombi crew and the ZRP members who were driving a police motorcycle. The ZRP Command has viewed the video footage of the scene and the camcorder for the deployed team; no such incident occurred. The ZRP warns Zimbabweans against using social media to spread false information or narratives.”
