NEW: Police on robbers’ trail

POLICE are investigating an armed robbery case in which five unknown suspects attacked a complainant (30) at a house in New Mabvuku last Saturday, before stealing cash and valuables. 

In a statement on Monday, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) said items stolen include five cellphones, 20 pairs of shoes, three watches, a laptop, cash amounting to US$5 300 and ZAR3 500. 

In another case, the ZRP is looking for three suspects who, armed with pistols, pounced on a fuel service station in Banket and stole US$5 200 last Sunday. 

“The ZRP is investigating a robbery case which occurred at Mac Morgans Service Station, Banket on March 20 2022, where three unknown suspects who were armed with two unidentified pistols, pounced on the service station and disarmed two security guards of a 38 mm Rossi Revolver before tying them with shoelaces,” reads the statement.  

“The suspects stole the US$5 200 cash, 2 cell phones and the 38 mm Rossi revolver.   

“Meanwhile, Police are investigating robbery case which occurred at Riddle Ridge, Harare on March 19 at 2300 hours where four unknown suspects who were armed with machetes, iron bars and stones attacked security guards at a school before they broke into the administration block where they stole a 42-inch television set, a cell phone and US$2 770 cash.”
