NEW: President in closed-door meeting with Pope Leo XIV

PRESIDENT MNANGAGWA has arrived at the Vatican City State and is now in a closed-door meeting with Pope Leo XIV.

He was welcomed at the Vatican City by Cardinal Priest Monsignor Leonardo Sapienza, as well as other officials.

President Mnangagwa was accompanied by Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to the Vatican Dr Sekai Nzenza; Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister Professor Amon Murwira; Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion Minister Professor Mthuli Ncube; Chief Secretary in the Office of the President and Cabinet Dr Martin Rushwaya; and Deputy Chief Secretary in the Office of the President and Cabinet responsible for Presidential Communications Mr George Charamba; and senior Government officials.

President Mnangagwa is expected to later hold another meeting with Vatican Secretary of State, His Eminence Pieto Parolin.

President Mnangagwa meets Pope Leo XIV and Secretary of State Cardinal Pieto Parolin at Vatican City today during a State visit.
