EQUATORIAL GUINEA’S President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo is expected to visit Zimbabwe next month to sign key bilateral agreements, following the successful inaugural session of the Zimbabwe-Equatorial Guinea Joint Permanent Commission on Cooperation (JPCC) early this month, Cabinet has revealed.
Speaking at a post-Cabinet media briefing yesterday, Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Dr Zhemu Soda said the inaugural session of the JPCC earlier this month was designed to promote regional and Pan-African cultural, economic and political integration; consolidate long-standing diplomatic ties; expand bilateral economic cooperation; and finalise legal instruments to deepen sectoral collaboration.
Among the salient outcomes, Harare and Malabo mutually committed to accelerating economic cooperation, regional integration and enhancing political and diplomatic consultations.
Specific areas of progress included promoting economic trade, cooperation in education, rationalisation of visa fees and a shared commitment to collaborate in agriculture, wildlife management, fisheries, tourism and mining.
“Significantly, the session provided a platform to finalise agreements and memoranda of understanding to be signed during the President of Equatorial Guinea’s visit to Zimbabwe in June 2026, namely: Agreement on Economic and Trade Cooperation; Training of Translators and
Interpreters; and the Memorandum of Understanding in the Field of Education. In general, the event successfully reinforced strong bilateral relations between Zimbabwe and Equatorial Guinea,” said Minister Soda.
