President Mnangagwa has urged the Church to remain steadfast and reject the yoke of colonialism, while continuing to champion the Pan-African spirit.
In a speech read on his behalf by Defence Minister and ZANU PF National Chairman, Cde Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri, at the Johane the 5th of Africa International Church gathering in Mvuma, the President said churches such as Johane the 5th have a vital role to play in advancing African unity.
> “Iwe neni, tose tine basa,” he said.
President Mnangagwa said it was heartening that the Johane the 5th of Africa International Church was expanding its footprint across the continent.
> “The Church must continue to win the souls of many…,” he said.
The President also called on the church to preach the gospel of hospitality as Zimbabwe continues to welcome returnees from the Diaspora during the current repatriation exercise.
He said those returning should not be required to pay duty at the country’s ports of entry.
President Mnangagwa reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to protecting citizens from impending climate shocks.
He also underscored the church’s important role in promoting social cohesion across communities.
