Property investors in northern Harare have welcomed the government’s road improvements in the city, citing how the newly re-tarred Alpes Road now facilitates easy access to the area, increasing value of properties.
The road is now a major boost to Harare’s urban evolution, especially WestProp Holdings’ Pomona City, a flagship “live, work, shop and play” estate.
The property investors said developments like Pomona City were now more attractive because of the re-done Alpes Road, while those that were holding back were now rushing to secure their investments.
This vital artery, which links the development to the city’s northern corridor, has been upgraded to match the visionary scale of the estate it serves.
Nestled beside the prestigious Wingate Golf Club – an 18-hole, par-72 championship course – Pomona City offers residents a rare blend of tranquility and sophistication.
The estate’s proximity to Harare’s Green Zone further enhances its appeal, placing it within minutes of diplomatic hubs, international schools, and key commercial districts.
As Westprop Holdings chief executive officer Mr Ken Sharpe said: “Pomona City is not just a residential enclave, it is a self-contained urban ecosystem.
“The development will feature international schools, churches designed for diverse faith communities, a modern shopping mall with global retail brands and a cutting-edge office park for corporate tenants”.
The completion of Alpes Road mark further progress in the Government’s ongoing drive to modernise the capital’s road network under the Emergency Road Rehabilitation Programme 2 (ERRP2).
The upgraded road would not only ease traffic congestion, but also improve accessibility for emergency services, enhance local tourism and potentially boost property values in surrounding areas.
Transport and Infrastructural Development Minister Felix Mhona presided over the official opening of the road.
At least 50 percent of the Pomona City is reserved for green spaces that include a budding orchard.
This integrated design reflects WestProp’s commitment to creating a “city within a city,” where every amenity is within reach.
At the groundbreaking ceremony, WestProp CEO Ken Sharpe emphasized the transformative nature of the project:
Sharpe also highlighted the strategic importance of infrastructure upgrades: “Pomona City is designed with tomorrow in mind. From AI-powered security systems to eco-conscious building materials and smart energy grids, the estate embodies the future of urban living.
“Residents will enjoy seamless connectivity, sustainable architecture, and vibrant community hubs—all within a secure, master-planned environment”.
