NEW: Public assist in apprehending robbers

POLICE in Harare have arrested four men in connection with theft of over US$11 000 and a laptop after members of the public managed to apprehend one of the accused persons.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed the incident.

“On July 23, 2022, police in Harare swiftly reacted to a robbery report and arrested McDonald Bechani (31), Blessing Kapanyira (31) Betwell Chivumba (28) and Hardlife Chivumba (25) for attacking the complainant before stealing US$11 108, as well as an HP Laptop along Bishop Gaul Road in Belvedere.

“The public apprehended McDonald Bechani and handed him to the police, who later tracked other suspects in Harare’s CBD,” reads part of the police communique.

Police recovered US$11 108 and the stolen laptop from the suspects.
