In a major move towards realising the Government’s devolution policy, the Public Service Commission has deployed 550 experts across all ten provinces of Zimbabwe.

Permanent Secretary for Presidential Affairs and Devolution in the President’s Office, Mr Tafadzwa Muguti, announced the news at the inaugural Rural Industrialisation Indaba at the Zimbabwe International Exhibition Centre today.

This development is set to ensure that the implementation of the devolution policy is carried out to its fullest potential, paving the way for greater decentralisation of power and resources throughout the country.

The indaba is being held as part of this year’s edition of the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair.

Mr Muguti told delegates that included the Bulawayo Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Judith Ncube, various cabinet Ministers, captains of industry and senior Government officials that Zimbabwe was not going back on devolution and was very clear that the programme is paramount to the success of the country as outlined in Chapter 14 of the country’s constitution.

The Government identified devolution as a key pillar to achieving an upper-middle income economy status by 2030.
