NEW: Simon Mutambi pleased with Mozambique gigs

Sungura musician Simon Mutambi reckons his recent three-day tour of Mozambique was a massive success, as all his gigs were oversubscribed.

His first show was held on Friday last week in Catandica, before he proceeded to Tete for two more gigs.

“My recent trip to Mozambique was very good by any measure.

“I can safely say these were the best shows that we have had so far this year,” Mutambi told The Sunday Mail Online.

The artiste said the positive reception he got from Mozambique was encouraging, and he intends to frequent the country for more live shows.

He added that competition in the sungura genre is stiff locally, hence the need to spread his wings to the region.

“We have several artistes that play sungura in different parts of the country, thus the local market is somewhat saturated.

“Therefore, there is need to establish new markets beyond borders,” said the Cobra Kings front-man.
