New Strictly Come Dancing season begins

THE new season of Strictly Come Dancing South Africa makes a comeback tomorrow at 7:30PM on SABC 3. The show — now in its eighth season — features some of the best Mzansi professional dancers who will be paired with local celebrities.

For the next 10 weeks, contestants will battle it out for top honours, being judged by dance experts such as Michael Wentink, Tebogo Kgobokoe and Samantha Peo.

Katlego Maboe from SABC3’s popular breakfast show Expresso and Top Billing host Roxy Burger have been retained as the presenters of the show.

Male contestants include Muvhango actor Nkululeko Tshirambula, former Blue Bulls rugby player Gary Botha, rapper and entertainer Siya “Slikour” Metane, former Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana star Stanton Fredricks and comedian Jason Goliath.

Women will be represented by TV and radio presenter Pearl Modiadie, 5FM radio personality Sureshnie Rider, TV presenter Leigh-Anne Williams, Afrikaans pop star Karlien van Jaarsveld and TV host and actress Bridget Masinga.

Rapper Slikour told SunBuzz that he was happy to be part of the dancing competition because it was something new and different.

“I’m always eager to learn. Dancing is also something that my parents did when they were young,” he said.

A team of professional dancers such as Grant Esterhuizen, Obed Mofoleng, Johannes Radebe, Devon Snell, Dennis Maseko, Nombulelo Hlathi, Jeanné Swart, Michelle Oppenshaw, Erin Musson and Samantha Viana will coach the celebs. — DailySun.
