THE Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) has raised concern over some voters who are taking photographs of marked ballots and sharing them on social media, which is illegal.

In a statement, ZEC spokesperson Commissioner Jasper Mangwana advised voters against taking photographs inside polling stations as it contravenes Section 30 of the Electoral Regulations Statutory Instrument 21 of 2005.

“No person is allowed to communicate to any person any information obtained in a polling station as to the candidate for who a voter in such station is about to vote or has voted or as to the number on the ballot paper given to a voter at such station,” he said.

ZEC issued the statement following an incident at Sunningdale B polling station, where a voter took a photograph of the ballot paper showing the candidate voted for and sharing it on social media.
