THREE people died in a fire at a house in Chikangwe, Karoi, Mashonaland West province, on Saturday last week, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed.

The victims — Clifford Mwanza (30), Takudzwa Muromba (30) and Sibangani Marches (30) — died after the room in which they used to illegally stock fuel for resale exploded.

ZRP Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said keeping fuel in public places and homes is illegal and dangerous.

“Zimbabwe Republic police warns the public, motorists and illegal fuel dealers against storing fuel in their homes or public places as it is in breach of the country’s laws on public safety and environmental regulations,” said Asst Comm Nyathi.
