NEW: Time running out for Billiat

WITH the South African Premier Soccer League’s midseason transfer window closing on Friday, former Zimbabwe international Khama Billiat is still club hunting.

The 33-year-old was hoping to impress Gavin Hunt at SuperSport United, but after three days of training with the Pretoria-based side, the Zimbabwean was given the thumbs down.

According to Sunday World, a South African publication, Billiat was told to stop training with SuperSport United on Monday.

“(SuperSport) United’s captain and Billiat’s Zimbabwean homeboy, Onismor Bhasera, even expressed his wish for the club to sign him.

“However, it has since been revealed that just after three days of training, coach Gavin Hunt has decided against adding the 33-year-old to his roster,” wrote the Sunday World.

Billiat has been clubless since leaving Kaizer Chiefs in June 2023.

He has been linked with a move to Cape Town Spurs, but time is running out for the Mufakose-bred player.

The South African mid-season transfer window closes at midnight on January 26, much earlier than the traditional January 31.
