NEW: UK Ambassador meets top ZANU PF officials

ZANU PF Secretary-General Dr Obert Mpofu held fruitful discussions with UK Ambassador to Zimbabwe Mr Peter Vowles at the party’s headquarters in Harare on Tuesday.

“We discussed a number of issues affecting our relationship, ranging from sanctions, general political issues, debt clearance issues and environmental issues,” he said.

Ambassador Vowles said his role was to strengthen the relationship between Britain and Zimbabwe.

“We had a frank conversation about the relationship between the United Kingdom and Zimbabwe,” he said.

“I am a visitor; I represent the United Kingdom in Zimbabwe …

“We had conversations about issues that will strengthen our relationship …”
