At least 20 armed robbers raided a farm in Marondera before stealing US$74 100, a pistol and three cellphones, among other valuables, early this morning.

The incident occurred at Alpha Omega Farm in Marondera at around 1 am.

Investigations revealed that the robbers who were armed with rifles, pistols, bolt cutters, machetes and iron bars first attacked security guards manning the premises.

They then attacked the family members before stealing the cash and valuables.

National police spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi said investigations are in progress.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police is investigating an incident of armed robbery which occurred at Alpha Omega Farm, Marondera, on March 18 at 1 am,” he said.

“About 20 suspects who are yet to be identified and armed with rifles, pistols, bolt-cutters, machetes and iron bars attacked the farm security personnel. The suspects went on to assault family members, cut burglar screens, and force open doors.

“They then gained entry into the family house. They took away US$74 100, a pistol, three cellphones and other valuables.”

Police are appealing to anyone with information that may assist in identifying the 20 suspects. Reports can be made on the National Complaints Desk at (0242) 703631, WhatsApp on 0712800197, or the nearest police station.
