DESPITE the looming threat of relegation, Yadah have found solace in their previous Chibuku Super Cup campaign and hope to win the trophy this year.
The Harare-based outfit are motivated by their conquerors in last year’s final, Bulawayo Chiefs.
They hope to emulate the defending champions with a fairytale run of their own in this year’s edition of the country’s biggest club knock-out tournament.
Yadah currently sit third from bottom in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) with 17 points.
“We are gunning for it (Chibuku Super Cup). If Bulawayo Chiefs did the unthinkable last year and won, what stops Yadah from doing the same?” said club spokesperson Terrence Paradza.
“We have the pedigree to stun several so-called big teams. A cup game is different from a Premier League match.”
Paradza was speaking on the sidelines of the Chibuku Super Cup draw, which was held in the capital on Wednesday.
Yadah was drawn against Cranborne Bullets in the preliminary round of the tournament.
That match will be played on August 9.
“The draw was fair and we are looking forward to our tie against Cranborne Bullets next week.
“We lost to Cranborne Bullets one-nil in the first leg of the Castle Premier Soccer League at National Sports Stadium, and this makes our upcoming Chibuku tie more exciting,” he said.
He also remains confident that his charges will survive the chop as league marathon reaches the home stretch.
He has pinned the club’s hopes on the Brazilian trio of Marques Pedro, Pereira Deivid and Luciano Farias.
“We also intend to unleash the Brazilians this week, just as soon as all the paperwork concerning their work permits sails through.
“We are confident that their availability in our next game will work its magic.”
